(Willie) Pearl Wells Obituary

(Willie) Pearl Wells, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 3 at Majestic Care, Fairfield, OH. She was born April 23, 1928 to Reverend Willie Lee and Mattie Knight in Deastville, Alabama, fourth of 12 siblings. She married Dennis Thomas Wells September 9,1944 in Deastville, AL. Out of this union 7 children were born.

She was a willing worker in her church, Front Street Church of God (formerly Owen & Lane St. Church of God) insuring that the work of the Lord went well. She worked in many capacities- Sunday School teacher, deaconess, President of Missionary Society, etc. In her community she was a member of the Excelsior Club and the Golden Girls Club.

(Willie) Pearl was known for cooking and baking skills, especially pies and wedding cakes. She worked at Eaton Manor Supper Club, Fort Hamilton Hospital, Champion Paper Company at Knightsbridge and “B” St. After retirement she managed her own restaurant.

Willie Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Nathaniel Wells, grandson Nicky Wells, great granddaughter Katelynn Dendy, great, great grandson, Titan Johnson and 10 siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory: four daughters, Tomasine Dendy, Bobbie J. (Gary) Chapman, Marcella Wells all of Hamilton and Berlin (Eddie) Zachary of Indianapolis, IN; two sons, James T. Wells, Roslyn, PA and Christopher (Junelle)Wells, Atlanta, GA; Daughter in-law, Opal Wells, Miamisburg, OH; 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren; two sisters, Alvonia Freeman, Montgomery, AL and Mollie Johnson, Forest Park OH, sisters-in-laws Phyllis Knight, Hamilton, OH and Sandra Knight Fairfield, OH, one special nephew, Bobby Knight and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
