Wendell Lewis Nelson

Wendell L. Nelson was   born on December 17, 1940 in Hinton, West Virginia. He graduated from Hinton High School. His wife Mattie first became his “bride” in a Tom Thumb wedding when they were eight and six y ears old.  They married “again” at the ages of 19 and 17. They were married for 61 years. 

Prior to retirement, Wendell honorably served in the United States Air  Force for 30 years.  He retired a second time  after 20 years of civilian government employment.

Preceding him in death were his mother, father, three brothers  and a daughter, Terry.

Wendell is survived  by his wife, Mattie, his children, Wendell, Jr.,   Darrell (Angela), Vickie (Francois) d’Erneville  and Wynette, as well as many cherished grandchildren.
