Wayne Eric Howard was born in Columbus Ohio on May 2, 1986, to Anita Howard and Wayne Massey. He passed away unexpectantly on Monday, August 7, 2023, at Dublin Methodist Hospital.
Wayne was educated in the Columbus Ohio Public schools. He graduated from West High School in 2005. As a student, Wayne participated in sports. As an athlete, he played football and ran track.
Although Wayne was raised in Columbus, he spent significant time during the summer months in Hamilton, Ohio where his grandparents, aunts’ uncles, and many relatives resided.
Being the ambitious, outgoing and adventurous young man that he was, Wayne sought and secured several jobs that he enjoyed, while he persistently pursued better vocational opportunities that afforded him satisfaction, security and growth.
Wayne’s strong work ethic, his massive personality, and his gift of connecting with people, were skill sets that contributed to his likability and his short, but successful career with UPS, where he worked as an Over the Road Drive that took him all over the United States until his untimely death. Whether it was at work or play, Wayne never met a stranger.
As a “macho man,” Wayne enjoyed his “big boy toys”. He was an enthusiast of trucks, motorcycles, and collector of guns. He also received enjoyment and relaxation from outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting and hitting the road on his stylish motorcycle. Because of his love for cooking Wayne knew his way around the kitchen.
Wayne was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and he loved talking smack when hanging out with his buddies at various sports bars in the Columbus area. Wayne had enormous energy, an enticing engagement and empathy for others. He was a dedicated and committed son, brother, and uncle. He had a big heart and a determined demeanor to make deposits in the lives of others that was driven by God’s love and grace.
Wayne leaves to cherish his precious memories: mother, Anita E. Howard (Columbus); father, Wayne Massey; stepmother, Toni Massey (Columbus); grandparents, Mance and Mary Louise Berry (Cincinnati); brother, Darin Howard, (Columbus); sister, Jeana Howard; parental sisters, Michele Massey, Quiana Massey, Keyna Massey, Tarusa Massey and Tasha Harding.
