Walter Kirksey Jr. was born in Middletown, Ohio to the union of Walter Sr. and Mertha Kirksey on August 7, 1934. He passed away peacefully on November 3, 2017 in Columbus, Ohio.
Walter "Walt" or "Kirk" as he was affectionately known as, served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He was educated in the Middletown City School district and was employed by Armco/AK Steel Corporation, where he retired after 40 plus years of dedicated service.
After moving to Columbus to live closer to his children, Walter enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and following his favorite team, The Cincinnati Reds.
Walter is preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Bernice Kirksey; parents, Walter Sr. and Mertha Kirksey, brother Paul Kirksey, sister in-law Martha Kirksey, and brother in-law Percy Jefferson.
He is survived by children: Jacqui (Donald) Betts, Kenneth (Jacqueline) Kirksey, and Vicki (Scott) Hawkins. Grandchildren: Evan and Brooke Betts; Spencer (Bre), Malcolm and Olivia Kirksey; and Kennedi, Scott Jr., and Ryle Hawkins. Sisters: Patricia Jefferson, Martha (Wilton) Nicholson and many nieces and nephews.
Walter will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
