Tony Roscoe "Buster" Calhoun was born January 22, 1955 in Middletown, Ohio to Josephine Smith Calhoun and the late, John Calvin Calhoun, Sr. He was the second youngest of seven siblings.
Tony attended Middletown City Schools and graduated in 1974 from Middletown High School. While in high school, he played football as a defensive end and as a kicker. His position as defensive end would explain why he was such a protector of his entire family.
Tony was baptized at a young age and attended Tried Stone Baptist Church. He later became a member of New Life Christian Center under the direction of Dr. Charles A. McKinney.
Tony began employment with Akers Packaging on May 11, 1976 at the age of 21. He was a hard and dedicated worker and retired on May 31, 2021 at the age of 66 after 45 years of service.
Tony's love of his life was his beautiful daughter, Tiara Lynn Calhoun. There wasn't anything he would not do for her. She was his pride and joy. He enjoyed watching her play soccer and spending quality
time with her. Tony's other love was working on cars at his garage, "Buster's Garage". If you couldn't reach him on the telephone, all you had to do was drive past his garage and you would find him there. And if he wasn't there, he was on his front porch sitting in his rocking chair!
Tony enjoyed watching all sports and he was a Cleveland Browns fan, but we won't hold that against him!
In his younger days, he was an avid concert goer and he loved taking his nieces and nephews with him. If Luther Vandross, Prince, The Time, Debarge (just to name a few) were going to be in concert you
better believe Buster was going to be in attendance. Oh and we can't forget Cameo! Buster was told on many occasions that he resembled the lead singer, Larry Blackmon, Word Up!
Tony was a simple and quiet man with a huge heart. It didn't take much to make him happy. All he needed was his baby girl Tiara and his family around and life was good. There wasn't anything that he wouldn't do for his family or friends.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, John Sr.; his brothers, John, Jr. and Bruce Calhoun and sister, Twana Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Tiara Calhoun; his mother, Josephine; two sisters, Darlene Calhoun and Jennifer Southall; one brother, Jerry (Thomasetta) Calhoun; sisters-in-law, Sara Calhoun and Bernice Calhoun and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
