Thomas McCloud, III (Tommy) age 78 of Lincoln Heights, Ohio departed this life on Friday, November 12, 2021. He was born May 27, 1943, in Lincoln Heights Ohio to parents Thomas McCloud, Jr. and Roberta Taylor (Coston/Paxton/McCloud). He and his sister Loraine were raised in Woodlawn, Ohio by his father & Stepmother, Eula McCloud (Shinholster/Brinson). As children, they attended the Bible Way Church of God in Christ.
He graduated from Princeton High School in 1961, the third class to graduate from Princeton. As a young man, he was an avid athlete; he played basketball, baseball, (Old Timers/Lincoln Heights) and competed in racecar driving, for which he won many trophies racing his GTO.
Tommy remained an active part of the Princeton community attending and rooting for the Vikings teams over the decades. He took great pride in the fact that his son Thomas Tucker McCloud was a star basketball player in the early 1980’s. And later, in the early 1990’s, his son Andre Thomas served as a quarterback for the school’s football team. Currently, his grandson Amare’ Thomas is a standout member of the football team. Son’s Derrick McCloud, Thomas Julious, and Maurice Floyd were great athletes as well. Tommy retired from Princeton High School as a bus driver with over 29 years of service.
His leadership as the Exalted Ruler of Queen City #1660 Elks Club for over two decades included social activities and community service. He served on the State Council and Council 126. Annually the Elks distributed turkeys during the holidays. During the Flint Water Crisis of 2014, they raised funds and delivered a truck full of water to New Beginnings Ministries in Flint, Michigan. Tommy took great pride in being an Elk, traveling, partying and enjoying time with his friends and family. He prided himself in the fact that both of his daughters Delgreta Black (Greco) & Vanessa McCloud are Sisters of the Elks.
Tommy loved spending time and traveling with family and friends taking them wherever he went. For decades, he was the impetus of the Annual Community Cookouts in Sharonville, Ohio and shared an annual tradition of hosting a family “Gemini Cookout” during the Memorial Day weekends. Over the years, his sister Loraine Roberts hosted the family for the Annual Family Fish Fry and Barbecue held during the International CRIM Festival of Races.
