Terri Thurmond was born in Hamilton Ohio September 10, 1961 to the parents of Allen and Mary Thurmond. Terri was educated in the Hamilton City School District. She worked as a Home Health Aid. She always enjoyed helping people; that was who she was as a person. She always loved seeing about someone else.
Terri loved to travel and hit the road rather visiting one of her best friends in Fort Knox, Shelia Paige or driving to San Antonio Texas to visit her sister/friend, Debbie Jacobs. She did not mind a good road trip.
Terri loved to decorate her house. She was definitely a DIY type of girl and loved to try and do it herself and she was indeed good at it. From making curtains to repurposing a chair, Terri was definitely going to give it a go.
In October of 1995 Terri and her daughter were in a head on collision that nearly took their lives, but God spared them and healed their bodies. Terri recovered from compound fractures and a severe head laceration and trauma. She spent weeks in the hospital and time in the nursing home and months in intense physical therapy only to be kicked out because of no medical charted progress. God gave Terri a miracle; she walked when doctors said she wouldn’t. She defied the odds against her to walk when she should not have, and you could even catch her in a pair of high heels.
The miracle she received by God only deepened her love for Christ that he would spare her life and her daughter’s life. She knew she had to go full force. She dedicated her life to spreading the gospel of Jesus and seeing souls saved, healed and set free.
Terri was a Prophet to the nations. She traveled all over the country with a ministry of restoration. Prayer was her foundation. She would pray and intercede until the heavens moved. She lead a powerful prayer group weekly in Hamilton with fellow powerful women in the city and those that would attend would witness the power of prayer and truly songs, miracles and wonders were birthed from that prayer group.
Terri was preceded in death by her father, Allen Thurmond Sr.; her mother, Mary Thurmond brother, Ricardo Thurmond Sr. and son, Calvin Simmons Jr.
She leaves behind her beautiful daughter, Shaquila Simmons Mathews (Brandon Mathews); grandchildren, David, Davan, Jahlyn, Gloria, Aniah, Calvinee and Chardonnay; brothers and sisters, Allen Jr. (Betty), Dougie (Wanda), Greg (Melissa), Connie, Linda, Robin and Denise.
Terri will always be known for her beautiful smile and bubbly personality. She loved to go out to eat and enjoy life to the fullest. She believed in traveling and seeing the world and loving Jesus. Special shout out to Garfield class of 1980. Go Griffi
