Somesha Harris-Adams Obituary

Born in Dayton, Ohio on May 4, 1972, Somesha Uhuru Harris was the second of three children to Harold, Jr. and Diann Wright-Harris.

With her middle name literally meaning teacher of Freedom, Somesha was destined to not live an ordinary life and she did not disappoint! Somesha was happiest spending time with the two loves of her life, Brianna and Bryan. Whether it was painting, hiking, running, or attending some outlandish San Francisco street parade, they were her best friends and she theirs!

Being the only girl had its advantages and helped to create the Warrior in Somesha.  Once she entered her teenage years and certainly beyond, her older brother, Zuri would have to admit that even though he was the eldest brother, it was Somesha that everyone knew.  He would often say, “I knew, and she knew, that she was stronger, smarter, and more popular than me!”

Being blessed with exceptional beauty and a great spirit, Somesha lit up the lives of all she encountered during her little more than 4 decades of a life well spent. She believed in living her life out loud and in the moment!  Growing up she attended Westwood Elementary, E.J. Brown Jr. High School and Colonel White High School. Believing in the power of higher education, Somesha received both her Bachelor of Arts and Master’s Degree while serving her country as a Sergeant in the United States Army Reserves achieving the rank of E5.

Her passion for education, coupled with her dedication to ensuring no child would indeed be left behind, led her to her final career as an Education Liaison for Casey Family Programs. There she was able ensure that dozens of foster children received what they needed in order to complete their education so that they could continue to thrive!

The room is a little less bright without her in it now. But here is what Somesha would want you to do, Live Your Life Unapologetically, Hold Your Family Fiercely and Love Hard!

Somesha was preceded in death by her father, Harold, Jr.

Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her mother, Diann Wright-Harris; daughter, Brianna Harris-Cupe; son, Bryan Adams; husband, Andrece Adams; siblings, Zuri Harris and Zakiya Harris;  grandmother, Ms. Emma Martin; father and mother in law, R.H. and Clara Adams; sisters in law, Anntwynette Laffitte (Cricket), Brina Allen, Demetria Adams, Andrea Harris and Towana Harris; brother in law, Darius Adams nieces and nephews, Amir Harris, Semira Harris, Quentin Harris, Kennedy Harris and Zayden Harris; and a host of bonus children, extended family members and friends.
