Rosabell Keith was born on October 19, 1928 in Hamilton, Ohio, to the late John Wesley and Cossie McDougal. Rosabell, affectionately known as “Rosie and Ro-Bell”, was united in holy matrimony to the late Arthonia Keith for over 40 years until his untimely death. Eight children were born through this union.
Rosabell accepted Christ at an early age. She had a strong faith in God and was rooted in the word, which she passed down to her children. You would often hear her say that the Lord was her shepherd. She was a faithful member of Payne Chapel AME and attended church regularly until she was unable to do so.
Rosie worked for several years at Mercy Hospital, most notably in the burn center and also in the nursery department. Her patience and kindness were a perfect fit for the nursery and she made great friends. After retiring, she stayed connected with her fellow nurses, often having fellowship over lunch.
Her nurturing and compassionate spirit led her to provide daycare for her grandchildren and neighbor after retiring and becoming a homemaker. She loved helping people in any way that she could whether it was financial support or a listening ear.
Rosabell enjoyed a variety of hobbies which included macramé crafting and making angel dolls. She also enjoyed baking and was well known for her cream cheese pound cake.
After being diagnosed with breast cancer, she fought a good fight and was able to add long-term survivor to her list of accomplishments.
She exchanged this life for eternity on October 17, 2023, and entered the gates of heaven under the professional care of Crossroads Hospice of Southwest Ohio surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Arthonia Keith, parents John Wesley and Cossie McDougal, brothers Paul McDougal, John Wesley (JW), sisters Doris Hampton, Lomilda Alexander, Lucille McDougal, Naomi McDougal, her children Harold Keith, Brenda Tigner and John “Artie” Keith.
Rosabell is survived by her children Geraldine “Jet” Reese (Michael), Marcia Watkins (Eddie), Allen Keith, Andre Keith and Cheryl Wilson, her sister Precious Brown, along with a host of nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
