On August 21, 1955 a candle was lit as proud parents Grant Sr. and Dorothy Edwards welcomed their fifth child, Ronald Eugene Edwards, into the world. The candle burned brightly for 66 years as Ronald made a lasting impression on all that knew him. He departed this life on Monday, August 30, 2021.
Ronald was a graduate of the Middletown High School class of 1973. After graduating from Middletown High School, he attended Morristown College in Morristown, Tennessee and later returned to Middletown where he was employed at St. Regis Paper Company.
As a young adult, Ronald gave his life to Christ. He enjoyed reading the Word and worshipping the Lord. He didn’t mind letting you know that he knew the Lord, talked to the Lord regularly, and knew that God would take care of him.
Ronald also loved reading about and engaging in robust conversations about government and politics. He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching sports and cheering for his favorite teams and players. Ronald cherished the simple things in life and had a gentle, compassionate spirit. He could be seen daily feeding the birds who lived outside of his apartment; he said they depended on him to do it.
Ronald was preceded in death by devoted parents, Grant Sr. and Dorothy Edwards, and two brothers, Grant Jr. and James Edwards. He leaves six loving siblings to cherish his memory: William (Chris) Edwards, Wayne Sr. (Phyllis) Edwards, Donald Sr. (Shalonda) Edwards, Lucy Edwards Motley, Twana Edwards, and Joyce Edwards Cooksey; uncles and an aunt, James (Darlene) Wade, Robert (Genice) Wade, Charles (Linda) Lowe, and Georgia Wade; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
