Richard Parker III, age 61, of Cincinnati, Ohio departed this life on October 14, 2021. He was born on September 21, 1960. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Parker Jr. and his mother, Louise Parker (Sims).
Richard graduated from Hughes High School in 1978 and was in the Upward Bound program at the University of Cincinnati. He attended Cincinnati Technical College after completing the Upward Bound Program and studied Computer Engineering. He was a computer analyst at the University of Cincinnati for 23 years.
For 15 years, Richard was a faithful member of The Sanctuary Covenant Christian Fellowship (SCCF), under the authority of the Senior Pastor Frederick L. McQueen and Co-Pastor Vanessa L. McQueen. He was ordained as a deacon, and he also played bass for the praise and worship team. Prior to his membership at SCCF, Richard was a member of Jerriel Baptist Church where he was a deacon, a trustee, sang in the male chorus and in the choir.
Richard had a great love for martial arts and had been studying since the age of 15. In 1975, he studied various styles while training with Grandmaster Woodrow Fairbanks. He earned a third degree black belt and later received his master's promotion. He competed and was a referee in over 10 tournaments for the Arnold Schwarzenegger classics in Columbus, Ohio. He taught Tai Chi for 20+ years at the Corryville Recreation Center and only stopped when the doors were closed due to Covid-19.
Richard leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 31 years, Angela Christina Parker; son, Richard Parker IV; two daughters, Deanna Marie Parker and Teresa Yvonne Parker; two sisters, Venita Parker and Essie Mae Leggett; his brother, Eugene Lindsey and a host of family and friends.
