Raymond Smith, age 70, of Dayton, Ohio departed this life on October 6, 2021. He was born August 24, 1951 to Hiawatha Smith and Tressie (Ward) Smith.
He was preceded on death by his father, Hiawatha Smith; step-father, Leonard Porter; brother, Leonardo Smith and sister, Omelia Smith.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Raymond graduated from Jefferson Township High School, Class of 1970. He attended Central State University where he studied Art History and later Sinclair Community College. He was employed at the Delphi Plant in Moraine, Ohio (a division of General Motors).
Raymond was a member of Bethesda Temple Apostolic Church, 3701 Salem Ave., Dayton Ohio for many years where he enjoyed studying God’s Word under his mentor and friend, Deacon Peter Conley.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Linda M. Smith; children; Tawana Jones, Rosalind Evie Leininger, Dawnyell Chnine Lewis, Damon Jackson and Angelica Smith; mother, Tressie (Ward) Porter; sisters, Darla Beam, Mahalia Collins; brother, Melvin (Jacqueline) Boykins; extended family, Beverly, Marty (Rona) Heath, Grandchildren, a Special nephew, Rev. Ralph Griffin III & Family which includes an abundance of friends that loved & knew him as 'BATMAN"; best friends, Krista K Lewis, Albert Bowling III, Craig Robinson and a host of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
