Norvel Reed Stone began his journey through life on February 21, 1929 in Middletown, OH. He was the second of three sons born to Neal Cornelius Stone and Annie B. Herndon Stone. On Monday, September 27, 2021 he departed this life to his Celestial Home to be with the Lord. Norvel was educated in the Middletown School System. Upon graduation, he, joined the Army to serve his country and was honorably discharged. Norvel was employed by Armco Steel where he retired after many years of service. Some of Norvel's favorite pastimes were to go to the air field and watch the parachuters. He loved to go to the park to read the newspaper from cover to cover, and to meet and talk to his friends. As a young man Norvel was an avid baseball player. In his glory days, he had a very strong batting arm. When it was his turn to bat, the opposing team would all shout "move back". The baseball games were played at Douglass Park. Several times Norvel, hit the ball out onto Verity Parkway which was unbelievable. He was truly a standout ball player and asset to the team. He also had a love for wood working and made several custom walking canes. Norvel was preceded in death by his parents Neal and Annie Stone, one infant daughter, two sons, J C Stone and Gary Stone and two brothers Thomas Stone and William (Billy) Stone. He leaves to cherish his memory; his constant companion, Pat Spillman who was by his side and supported him until his death; his daughter, Doris Stone Tate; his son, Bradley (Jackie) Stone; his five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; six step grandchildren; his nieces, Janice Sweatt and Deborah Ann (Carl) Foster and his nephews, William Stone and Kenneth Stone. He will be missed by a host of family and friends.
