Mary Thomas Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Valentine Thomas was born on December 29, 1924 to Imogene and Charles Valentine. She was one of 10 children. Those siblings surviving her are: Robert Valentine, Gladys Berry and Rachel Anderson.

Mary met and married Arthur Thomas and out of that union they had five wonderful children together - Pamela Hunter, Arthur Thomas, Jr. (Yvonne) Anthony Thomas, Sondra, and Victoria Williams (deceased) (William Parker).

Mary leaves behind ten grandchildren who she loved and adored. They are: Jennifer Laurent, Deanna Manton (Jeremy)

Angelique Thomas, Lesley Thomas, Michael Wilson (Staci), Brian Thomas, Nadia Hunter Bey, Andrew Thomas (deceased) Jade Williams and Justin Parker. She has seven great grandchildren and a cadre of nieces and nephews with whom she had very close relationships. She was Granny to many and Aunt Tee Tee to others. She was always the person who cooked and made baked goods for various occasions.

Mary was a homemaker for many years until she took a job as the housekeeper for the Priests at Annunciation Parish. She was fastidious in her devotion and gave exceptional care to those she served. Mary enjoyed many years of service there until she retired. She was sorely missed.

Even after retirement, Mary was once again called to service to become a good will ambassador at the Veteran’s Hospital. With her gift of gab, her pleasant personality along with that infectious smile, she became one of the best volunteers there and won awards for her outstanding service. She received so much joy in being able to offer a kind word and a smile to those who needed a little kindness and cheer.

Upon retiring from the Veteran’s Hospital, Mary moved to Virginia to live with her daughter Vikki and her grandchildren, Jade and Justin.

Mary returned to Cincinnati five years ago and resided at Little Sisters of the Poor until her death. She loved going to Mass every day, talking with the other residents and the nuns. They were kind and loving to Mary.  It was the best place she could have been. Her family was very happy with the care she received.

Mary was at peace when she left this world on Saturday March 27, 2021 at 2:05 pm. She was ready to go and she knew how much she was loved. May she Rest In Peace in the hands of the Lord.
