Kevin Jones Obituary

Born in Dayton, OH on July 14, 1961, Kevin was the last of three children born to James Robert Jones and Barbara Jean Davis (affectionately known as B.J.) Kevin was destined to live an extraordinary life and he did not disappoint.

Being blessed with a great spirit, Kevin lit up the lives of all he encountered. Growing up in two neighborhood areas, Arlington Courts and Greenwich Village he knew everyone in Dayton. He met the love of his life, Treva Wilkinson as a teenager and they would marry in 1991.  He was educated at many Dayton Public Schools including Jackson, Hickorydale, Stivers, Meadowdale and Fairview.  After graduating, Kevin ambitiously joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17. While serving his country as a Rifle and Grenade Specialist 4, he distinguished himself in training. He was known as a fierce competitor for the U. S. Army Brigade Boxing Team and won several championships during his tour of duty in Germany.  Upon returning to the states in 1984, Kevin immediately gained employment where he worked diligently from March 4, 1985 until his last day worked on May 27, 2022 for 37 years at the same company throughout many positions, shifts and name changes, (currently  Avery Dennison) as a Skilled Printer-Press Operator.

He was happiest spending time with his beloved wife and family. He was a fun-loving friend to all in his company, whether it was intimate talks with his brother Mark, friendly visits with close friends Victor and Tony, quality time with his sister Evette or special bonding moments with his Mom. Kevin stayed active, lived a healthy lifestyle and was just so cool and laid back. He enjoyed taking care of his home, lawn care and gardening.  He was a protector and dog lover, valuing his playful walks with all his many dogs through the years (Jaws and Deuce) and his Mom’s dog Bo and leaves his present dog Cane Corso, Trey, as our protector.

Kevin was an avid sports fan, being a diehard Cleveland Browns supporter and most times, you could find him watching ESPN paired with a glass of 1800. His love for boxing continued past his time in the service and he would always be sure to record and re-watch many Pay Per View fights as he enjoyed the quiet time at home. Kevin was considered the fun Uncle, cool Dad and Superhero Husband. He was the BEST at being a provider and was such a great father and thee best Stepfather and Pa-Pa. Kevin was especially proud of his baby girl, Trinity, as he always called her. He was the original Girl Dad; she could get whatever she wanted from her Daddy.  Kevin cherished his grandchildren dearly and his grand-pup, Bentley too!

Kevin possessed many talents during his 6 decades of a life well spent. He was technically-inclined and a true machinist. He had a unique sense of humor, exemplified a strong work ethic and he was sharp with his intellect and style. He had an affinity for coordinating his outfits head to toe, always matching his hat and suit or his Nike sportswear. And he was known for getting his jeans “heavy starched” at the dry cleaners. He was a Jack of All Trades. Whether it was assembling something on the first try or plowing the snow for both his Mother and Mother-In-Law or the neighbors, without them asking. His smile and laugh was so infectious, and he had a keen eye for the genuine.  He was the Grill Master for whatever holiday or special occasion –  he was our go-to guy.  Kevin DeWayne Jones was our everything and he will be sorely missed, but his presence will always be felt and we will meet again in the by and by.

Kevin was preceded in death by his biological and bonus fathers, James Robert Jones and Louis Davis, respectively.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife of over 30 years, Treva; a loving mother, Barbara J. Davis; sons, Brandon (Tiffany) Horton and Kamari Stevens; one daughter from their union, Trinity Jones; brothers, Mark (Gail) Jones and Louis Snowden Davis; sisters, Delphin Evette Goodall and Marla (Stanley) Wiley; grandchildren, Makhenly, Kingston, Armani Horton and Kimani Barksdale; as well as the Nolan and Watson Families, Leola Jones and Family, The Davis Family siblings and cousins, Barbara Griffin and  the Wilkinson, Goodall, Jones, Mitchell and Winston Families; his best friend, Victor Moreland and a host of relatives and friends.
