Joseph Louis Chapman, Jr. was born on August 30, 1987 in Dayton, Ohio and passed away on May 6, 2023. We (the family) affectionately called him Little Joe. Little Joe was the first born child of both his parents and the oldest of 13 siblings. He was a sweet and humble soul and his warm embrace left you feeling loved.
Joseph graduated from high school and went on to attend Fortis University, where he completed training for HVAC technician. Everyone who came into contact with Joe would complement his industrious spirit and respectful demeanor.
Little Joe never outgrew his “class clown” moniker. He was known to orchestrate one-man shows that left a smile on the faces of those in his company. His love for entertaining carried over into his adult years when he found his passion for music. His adventurous spirit was fueled by his numerous days on the road with his “Uncle J.”
Joe’s most cherished moments were with his precious daughter Ja’Miyah. Anyone who came in contact with Joe knew that his love for his daughter was immeasurable. Nothing brought Joe more joy than being a father to Ja’Miyah. The nights spent watching “Frozen” or “Wreck It Ralph” always made for an exciting evening, no matter how many times he had to listen to “Let It Go.”
Joe was preceded in death by grandparents, Angelia Hill and Gloria Chapman Howard, and a sister, Rodnesha Thompson. To cherish his memory, Joseph Louis Chapman, Jr. leaves his daughter, Ja’Miyah Amarra Chapman and godson, David Darnell Campbell; mother, Rochonda Hill; father, Joseph L. Chapman, Sr. (Heather); siblings, John Moore (Latisha), Jasmine Shinkle (Juleaus), Rodneyka Thompson, Jayla Thompson; Shalece Mitchell, Jasmine Moreland, Daniel Courts (Lasasha), Jabrea Jones (Anthony), Tavion Mays, Jovaughn and Jomar Chapman, all of Dayton, OH and Jovian Chapman, of Columbus, OH; grandfather, Joseph Howard; and a host aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Little Joe’s smile and hugs will truly be missed.
