Jerry Bannard McKnight was born on October 6, 1955, in Middletown, OH. He was the 3rd of 11 children born to the late Louis McKnight, Sr. and Georgia Marie McKnight. He was a loving brother, uncle, father, cousin, and friend. He departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at the age of 66 years old.
Jerry was reared and educated in Middletown, OH and was a 1974 graduate of Middletown High School. He joined the Army National Guard in 1975 and was stationed in Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. “Slim” as he was affectionately known enjoyed riding his bike, watching western movies and fishing. He also had a close bond with his siblings and loved them dearly. His sister, Alesia was especially close to him. He enjoyed being an uncle and loved making all his nieces and nephews feel special. He provided many laughs with his wit and notorious one liners such as “And your point is”, “Biggums”, “I’mma leave that alone”, I’m Dat…(yall know), and “Who you Wit”
He was preceded in death by his twin children Jerry B. McKnight Jr. and Kadesia R. McKnight; his parents, Louis, Sr. and Georgia McKnight; his maternal grandparents, John, Sr. and Cassie Amos; uncle, John Amos, Jr. (Doris).; Aunt Augustine Young; brothers Louis McKnight, Jr. and Victor McKnight; sister Vickie (Keith) Robinson; nephew Steven Reed; and grandson Marquel Walker.
Jerry leaves not to mourn but to cherish his precious memories: his significant other Keron Blanding; stepsons, Donzel, Dontrell, and Dontay Stokes; daughter, LaShona Walker; grandchildren Jaylen Gray, Christina Wilder, Kamaya, Donzel Jr., Dontay Jr., and Jamarion Stokes; three protective brothers, Paul (Jereline), Duane, and Dwight (Delaine) all of Middletown, OH; four special sisters, Carolyn McKnight of South Bend, IN, Jonnie V. Reed of Indianapolis, IN, Teresia (Joseph) Willis of Middletown, OH, Alesia (Charles) Brown of Trenton, OH and Polly (Larry) Robinson of Byram, MS; sister in-laws, Rose and Angie McKnight of Middletown, OH; one loving aunt Aslyee Thompson of Gloster, MS; nieces, nephews, a host of cousins; the Amos, Gaines, Winding, and Redd families; and many loving friends
