James Tyrone Colbert began this life on May 18, 1946 in Springfield Indiana. He transitioned peacefully to his heavenly home on May 4, 2023 in Dayton, Ohio. James better known as Tyrone, Ty, daddy, Pops, Papa T, and Granddad attended Wilbur Wright High School where he played basketball.
He was a dedicated employee of GM/Delphi: thermal systems and retired after 30+ years of service as the employee assistant representative (EAP rep).Tyrone loved the act of service. He supported and helped change many lives with a focus on servicing those that struggled with addiction and substance abuse.
Tyrone was an active member of alcoholic anonymous AA, a leader and sponsor, that currently served as the Vice President of the West Club in Dayton Ohio. Tyrone enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, golfing, sporting events, and attending music concerts. He was a spiritual person that nurtured his wellbeing. He attended a monk experience at Abbey of Gethsemane, yearly where he enjoyed being in silence and praying.
Tyrone was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Grady, dad in love Johnny Grady, and father James Colbert.
His survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Colbert and he leaves behind eight children
Cheryl, Lisa and Tyrone (Tonya) Robinson, Tahnee (Robert) Butler, Kelli Martin-Harris, Kevin Turner, Rhonda (Demil) Joyce, Christopher (Laquita)Colbert; five daughters in love; Kimberly Harris, Valonda (Dearmon) Lewis, Kenna Deering, Kwanah (Anthony Bronaugh), Khaliah Deering; eleven grandchildren Denise Robinson, Ashley Mack, Jasmine, Adayah, Bryanna Robinson, Robert Johnson, Josiah and Jadynn Martin, Kameran and Bryce Turner, Phoenix Williams, Justyn Wortham, William Demil Joyce II, Trinity, Chris and Kendall Colbert, and nine great-grandchildren.
Survivors also includes his four sisters: Penny (Don) Lagrone, Anna (Rod) Hibma, Elsie Colbert, Susan Colbert and two brother’s James (Daun)Colbert, and Leon Colbert. Special friends Vernon, Darius, Veronica, and Annette. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Tyrone’s laugh, love, and support will be deeply missed.
