Ivan Vaughn age 91 of Dayton, Ohio passed away peacefully July 18, 2020. He was born August 25, 1928 in Holly Springs, Mississippi. He was the oldest of nine children born to the late Mary and Josh Vaughn. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. Ivan Vaughn moved to Dayton, Ohio in 1958 and later married Willie Johnson. They shared many happy years together. Ivan Vaughn worked as a highly skilled Brick Mason for over 70 years! He enjoyed fishing. Ivan Vaughn was a sharing, loving man who never met a stranger.
He joined the Valley Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. R.C. Dillard and was ordained as a Deacon of the church. Deac, as he was affectionately called, served willingly within the church. Deac literally helped to build Canaan at 5191 Hoover Avenue. Deacon Vaughn loved the Lord, his family and the church. His powerful prayers set the church on fire on Sunday mornings and when he sang the old hymns there was no quenching of the Holy Spirit!
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Vaughn and 7 siblings. He leaves to cherish his memory son Larry; daughter Latoya; brother Levan; two grandchildren Mykell and Mykion; and a host of relatives and friends. Deacon Vaughn left an imprint of love on everyone he met and he will truly be missed by everyone he touched with his big heart of gold. Well done good and faithful servant.
