Howard Gilbert Johnson

Howard Gilbert Johnson, 84, of Middletown, OH passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023. He was born on March 30, 1939. 

Gil was a great singer and guitar player. He sang in a quartet group growing up and loved to bowl.  He was a great big brother to his siblings. He looked out for them with caring love and protected them. Gil will be remembered for his giving heart and attentive spirit.

Howard graduated from Middletown High School. He was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. John Church. 

He is survived by his loving sister, Nettie G. Jones; brother, James Gregory (Tanya) Wood; nieces, Charlene Johnson and Elizabeth Jones; nephews, Michael Johnson and Tommie Jones Jr.; many great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Nettie Johnson; brothers, Michael Johnson, Jerry Johnson, Jr., and Frazier E. Johnson; nephew, Darryl Fores; and brother in law, Tommie Jones.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 with family receiving friends an hour prior at St. John Church, 1405 1st Avenue, Middletown, OH 45044.Father John Civille, Eulogist.
