Gregory Carter

Gregory “Gregg” Allen Carter was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 15, 1947. He was the first of six children to Ernest and Eva Pearl Carter. 

Gregory attended Hughes High School then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he was honorably discharged. Later, he became a Certified Machinist and Tool and Dye Maker.

Gregg met Elizabeth in 1979 and after a brief courtship they were married in 1980. He was a Bridge Enthusiast and later became a HAM Radio Operator.  He had a love for cooking and was known for creating the best ribs ever.  He built computers in his spare time, often giving them to his grandchildren for school. He was a Star Wars fanatic and was first in line at every movie premiere.  Gregg was funny and brought laughter to his family at every event.  He loved helping people in times of need.  He was always very proud of his family.  When his health started declining, he never complained. He always pressed on and lived life on his own terms.

 Gregg was called from labor to reward on December 26, 2018 at the age of 71.  He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Carter, his mother, Eva Pearl Carter, his brother, Cleveland Carter and sister, Marsha St. Clair.

Gregg leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and caring wife of 38 years, Elizabeth Carter; seven sons, Gary Carter, Rahsaan Carter, Anthony Pace, Robert Pace, Bryan Pace, Lance Pace and Oba Pace; five daughters, Stephanie Saafir (William), Tracey Pace (Brian), Lisa Pace, Kristen Jackson (Gary) and Shannon Donegan; one brother, Theodore Carter (Elena); two sisters, Wanda Shelton (Russell) and Donna Jackson; 35 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
