Gloria Clairene (Suggs) Wathel was born March 10, 1933 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Marshall and Magnolia (Carter) Suggs. She was the youngest of 8 children from this union. Gloria was preceded in death by her siblings, George, Ruth (Frank) Weaver, William (Ola), Vernel (Ester), Henry, Mary (Jack) Mundy Edward (Shirley) and Grandson Quintin L. Wathel. Gloria was a faithful child of God and was baptized at an early age at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church under Rev. T.L. Barron where she was a member of the Choir and the Nurses Guild. She later recommitted herself and joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Damon Lynch Jr. While there, she was a member of the Red Hatters. Gloria Married Billy J. Wathel June 1, 1968. She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons Dwight (Veronda), Kirk and Raymond Suggs, three daughters Delmarie (Gregory) Holloway, Vanessa and Marsha Wathel, 9 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Family Members and Friends. Gloria attended Lincoln Public School, East Vocational School and Eve More College of Hair Design. She was a Licensed Practice Nurse (Bethesda Oak Hospital), a Beautician and belonged to the Women's Federated Club. Gloria worked at the Cincinnati Fire Museum, and The Auditor's Office where she retired in 2009. Gloria was very caring and loving. She loved working in her flower garden, bowling (3 Leagues), watching the Reds and Bengals games and fishing.
