Essie Mae Ponder Clements Whiting was born in Forsyth, GA on September 27, 1938. She was the first born to the union of the late Walter Ponder and Gussie Reeves Ponder.
Growing up she attended Hubbard High School. While in school, she met Robert Lee Clements. At an early age, they were united together in 1954 and then moved to Cincinnati, OH. She was a homemaker and a devoted mother to her children. She joined Beulah Baptist Church where she was a faithful member of the Usher Board. Later in life, she met and married Charles E. Whiting, Sr. where their families were merged and became one. Mom and Dad always put family first.
As life went on, Essie then joined New Vision Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Stanton Thomas. Mom loved going to church, out to eat, going to stores and most of all, “she loved playing Bid Whist; it was her passion”.
