Duane C. Knight

Duane Carl Knight was born in Hamilton, OH on January 30, 1968 to John and Dessie Knight.  He was called from this earthly home to his heavenly reward on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at University Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH. 

He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age in the presence of his parents, family and church family under the leadership of Rev. Guy Arnold of Bethel Baptist Church, Hamilton, OH.

Duane received his education in Middletown Public Schools where he strived to make good grades.  He was a member of the Middies Football Team.  After graduating high school, he attended the University of Akron on a football scholarship. 

He was employed at Worthington Steele of Monroe, OH where he severed over 20 years.

Duane was a member of the Elks Lodge 456 where he held the following positions: Esteemed Leading Knight, Master of Secession and Local Chairperson of Education Department. 

He enjoyed going out to eat, playing golf, playing with his grandchildren, family picnics, and holiday gatherings with family.

Duane will always have a special place in the hearts of his family and friends. He would not want us to be sad, but to hold our heads high with a smile on our faces.  “Tears will fall upon our cheeks, know that we will meet again in our Father’s house way up high.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. Knight and Dessie L. Knight; his brothers, Jimmy Lee Teague, Reginald Teague, Ritchie Teague and John Knight, Jr.; his sisters, Carolyn Knight and Patty Hillard and his special niece, Jasire Kyle Knight.

Duane leaves not to mourn but cherish his memories: his wife, Freeda Laws-Knight; daughters, Sha’Mica Marie Knight and Brittnen Jean Benson; stepdaughter, Ashley Benson; grandchildren, Ma’Karieo McIntyre, Ma’Kiyla McIntyre, Ma’Laiyah McIntyre, Montaise McIntyre, Mi’Khi Cathey, Jay’Mar Benson and Aniya Benson; siblings, Patrick Teague (Regina) of Florida, Martha Thomas (Enorris) of Middletown, Charlene Charley of Florida, Ronnie Knight (Rosa) of Texas, Lanetta Smith (Dwight) of Middletown, Terry Slack of Hamilton and Vanessa Parks of Dayton; special nieces, Jalonda Knight, Karisa Jackson and India Jackson; goddaughter, Rayzuan Booker; special nephews; Sean Teague (Barbara) and Carlos Knight; special friends, Dale Shields, Tim Million, Juan Sterling and Bruce Roberts; eleven great nieces, 12 great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
