It is with great sadness that the Grisby Family announces the passing of Dr. Clayton D. Grisby. Dr. Grisby was born on February 9, 1943, and he passed away peacefully Friday, April 14, 2023, at his home in Trotwood, Ohio. Dr. Grisby was 80 years old at the time of his transition. His parents Albert and Alberta preceded him in death in Hamilton, Ohio.
Clayton D. Grisby graduated from New Miami High School in 1960. After high school he enlisted into the United States Army, and he received an Honorable Discharge. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree from Wilberforce University, he continued his education, seeking his Master’s Degree and his Doctoral degree majoring in psychology from the University of Cincinnati.
Dr. Grisby was a great son, a loving father of three (3), a reliable friend, a dedicated soldier, an educator and, most of importantly, he was a faithful believer in the God we serve. He served and served each position well, and for these reasons, his life is to be celebrated!
During Dr. Grisby’s lifetime, he served on missions throughout Haiti and Ghana. He loved helping, counseling and mentoring people. And he loved the realm of education in every aspect. Dr. Grisby has traveled by bike all over the State of Ohio while participating in the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure also known as GOBA. Dr. Grisby lived a fulfilling life. He made sure to spend time with those he loved, he made sure to travel, he was kind, respectful and such a gentle soul.
Dr. Clayton D. Grisby is survived by his three children; two daughters, Chamayne Hart (Michael); Chauna Grisby, of Memphis, TN; and Clayton D. Grisby, Jr., from Denver, CO. Four grand-chidlren, Terrence “TerShun” Grisby, Marquette Shaw, III; Reginald Johnston, Jr.; and Londyn Millon Grisby; all of Memphis, Tennessee. He leaves to cherish a host of family members near and far, close friends, fraternity brothers, co-workers and students all to cherish his memory.
A public viewing is scheduled Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and Dr. Clayton D. Grisby’s Celebration of Life will follow, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Donald Jordan Memorial Chapel will take charge of the services.
