Carol Jean Thompson

July 31, 1952 ~ August 15, 2023 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Obituary

Carol Jean Thompson was born July 31, 1952, at Middletown Hospital, the ninth of nine children. She was the daughter of Beatrice Thompson and James A. Page.

Carol was a life long member of Bethel AME Church and active in the Sunday School, participating in various activities and programs. She loved the Lord and felt it down to her soul through music.

Carol was a 1970 graduate of Middletown High School, later receiving an Associate Degree in merchandising from the Cincinnati Institute of Design. Being an avid sports fan, she participated in Pony Tail Baseball, cheerleading for Taft Elementary and McKinley Junior High; and played high school volleyball, basketball and softball. She loved football and her favorite teams were the Cleveland Browns and any of her grand babies’ teams.

Carol was an Associate Manager at Montgomery Wards for many years until its closure. She then worked as a paraprofessional in Middletown and Monroe Schools until retirement in 2014.

As much as Carol hated to take long car rides, it was never a question to travel to participate or watch the apples of her eye - her children and grandchildren. Family was everything to her and adventuring from home was not always a priority. Thus, to this day we all wonder how she knew so many people and got so much news sitting on the front porch. Anyone who knew her experienced her quick wit. Carol did enjoy her years as a member of the Mahogany Social Club.

Carol Jean departed to be with Mamma on August 15, 2023, at the Butler and Warren County Hospice, surrounded by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, godson Todd Martin and her loving “grand pets” Sierra, Serenity, and Charley.

She leaves to cherish her memory: children Corey Thompson and Ayron Thompson; grandchildren Kean Thomas, Ayron Thompson, and Amehr Johnson; siblings Beverly Howard, John Thompson, Jacquilyn Thompson, Danny Thompson(Tammy), James Thompson (Cecilia), Michael Thompson( Marilyn), Frederick Thompson(Angela), and Vonnie Thompson; cousin Freddy Armstrong; goddaughter Michelle Thompson; sisters in love Marva “Cookie” Martin and Jocelyn “Pinky” Jordan; grandson’s in love Caleb, Preston, and Hayden Crouch; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and her adorable “grand pets” Junior, Drako, Roxie, and Apollo.
