Beverly Ligon-Florence Obituary

Beverly Jo Ligon-Florence passed away on Monday April 15, 2024, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio surrounded by her family.

Beverly Jo (as she was affectionately called) was born in Hamilton, Ohio on December 1, 1956, to the union of Ben and Betty Ligon. As to be expected, their only child, she was the apple of their
eyes.

She graduated from Garfield High School. Soon after graduation, she attended the University of Cincinnati. Later starting her first career job with Proctor & Gamble of Cincinnati. She worked many
departmental jobs; during her career that lasted over thirty-two years with P&G. After retiring a few months went by, she wanted to try something different. Beverly Jo decided to go into the medical field. After a few years of pursuing that, she still wasn’t quite satisfied. Longing for a different challenge in life. Realizing she had so much more to offer, and needing to find her niche.
It was then the church she grew up in (Pilgrim Baptist Church) offered her a secretarial position and she accepted. Beverly Jo became the shining light for the administrational business side of the
church.

Her parents were members of Pilgrim Baptist; at a very young age she accepted Jesus Christ as her savior. Beverly Jo not only attended, but was very active in the church. She was on the Youth
Usher Board, Senior Usher Board, Trustee Board, and participated on the pastoral search committee.

Beverly Jo was a strong, but quiet woman with a reserved demeaner and a vibrant strength that allowed her to press forward. She was a loving and a determined mother to raise her children with
discipline and respect for themselves and others.

In their home, Beverly Jo had a special room designated for crafts. She spent many hours devoting her time and God given gift to the art of crafting. She was proficient in designing printed tee-shirts, making jewelry, and creating greeting cards to name a few. Her favorite shopping places were Hobby Lobby and Michaels Craft store. Beverly Jo and her husband, Juan enjoyed traveling and seeing many live music concerts. Beverly Jo was preceded in death by her father, Ben Ligon; her mother-in-law, Phyllis Knight. She leaves to cherish her memory; her loving mother, Betty Ligon, husband, Juan Florence; children, Stephanie Moore of Forest Park, Ohio and Michael Butler (Jlaia) of Columbus, Ohio, bonus son, Isaiah Florence of Hamilton, Ohio; her lifeline of grandchildren, Zhyon Isaiah Bell, Zhara Alyabeth Moore, Zhyier Benjamin Moore; a host of other relatives and friends; and her dear and devoted friends, Ms. Helen Haas and Mrs. Frances Shazier. Beverly Jo will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
