Ella Walker was born November 3, 1918 to the late James and Sallie Walker (both deceased) in Manchester, Kentucky. Ella grow up on the farm there until she married Carl Walker and birthed 6 children. Later on, Ella moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where she birthed 9 more. She worked in a laundry factory until it closed, and afterwards, she worked various jobs. She retired early in 2000 from Widmer's Dry Cleaning. Ella was a strong-willed and independent woman. She lived her life on her terms. She loved life and she didn’t let society or the times dictate the kind of wife, woman, or mother that she should be. She loved to party, dance, and have a good time. She loved the life that she lived and lived the life that she loved. Though not very religious, Ella believed in and had faith in God. She asked God to let her live to 100, and he let her live to 101.
On December 24th, God called Ella home. She passed away surrounded by family. Ella was well loved and respected by family and friends. If any member of the family needed a place to stay, they could stay at her house.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents; twelve siblings: Charlie Cash, William Cash, Mandy Thompson, Elizabeth Hill, Helen Fullwood, Thelma Walker, Hester Walker, Dollie Jones, Nora Walker, Chloetilla Walker, Sarah Cash, and Liddy Cash; eight of her children: Kenneth Walker, Charles Walker, Jimmy Joe Walker, Lula Mae Combs, Hobert Walker, Glen Walker, and Jackie Seldon. She leaves behind to cherish her memory eight children: Leonard Walker, Vivian Walker, Diane Sims, David Walker, Claude Walker, Burnetta Walker, Bonita Walker, and Terry Walker (Lanise). Additionally, she leaves 27 grandchildren: Polly Combs-Kone (Abdrahamane), Carl Combs, Tyrone Combs, Leona Tolliver, Hovina Walker, Amani Gay, Antoinette Walker, Vickie Walker, Reginald Clay Jr., Clarice Williams (Eddie), Jerrice Sims-Carroll (Neal), Doriane Sims, Simuel J. Sims Jr., David Walker Jr. (Dawn), Martisha Hall, Demetrius Walker, Derissa Walker, Brandon Walker, Brenden Walker, Charles Walker (Faira), Jameca Walker, James Walker, Victor Walker, Tequioa Little, Courtney Walker, Chaz Bolden, and Paris Underwood. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
