Donald (Don) Edmund Murray graced this world on Tuesday, January 31, 1933 to the union of Forrest Rile and Marguerite Hill Murray. His earthly voyage was culminated on Saturday, September 7, 2019 in Dayton, Ohio.
Educated in the Dayton Public School System, Don was an All-City basketball player and graduate of Roosevelt High School, Class of 1951. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he furthered his education at Central State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. Don was employed for 34 years at Wright-Patterson AFB where he retired on December 31, 1988 as Supervisory Computer Programmer Analyst.
On November 15, 1960, Don was united in Marriage to his beloved, Bette Lou McGill and to this union was born their daughters Donna, Bettina and Annette.
From 1961 to 2015 Don and Bette were faithful members of Residence Park United Methodist Church. He was a founding member and president of The 51ers', the African American members of his high school class and a friend of Bill W.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother Forrest Hill Murray; son Duane Alan Murray and his sister Joyce Murray-Urquhart. He is cherished in memory by his wife Bette Lou; daughters Donna (Kenneth) Thrash, Bettina (Earl) Keith and Annette Murray; his grandchildren Kamisha (Darius) Bennett, Brandon, Olivia and Anna Murray, Kenneth Jr., Jasmond and Amber Thrash, Earl Jr. and Marguerite Keith, Derrick Jr. and Edmund Parker; daughter-in-law Lori Murray; cherished cousin Dr. Ivan Neil Baldwin along with countless other family members and friends.
