Donald Raymond Carswell, Jr. “Don” was born October 16, 1961 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Betty Jean Newton and Donald Raymond Carswell, Sr. and his step-father Jeff Henry Newton, Jr. whom also preceded him in death.
Growing up, Don loved boxing and playing baseball. He was educated in the Cincinnati Public School System and graduated from Aiken Senior High School. Don then furthered his education attending Cincinnati State College where he obtained his Associates Degree in Business Administration. He then obtained a career as an assistant manager at Baker’s Shoes for 15 years and then changed his career as a machine operator at Sawbrook Steel Casting.
Don, a man with many nick names, you may have known him as Junie, Don Juan or Cutty, either way you had been in for a treat. Any encounter with him was definitely an unforgettable moment. If you truly know him you know that he was one of the most fearless, competitive, outgoing and outspoken person you have ever known. He loved playing cards and he loved shooting pool. He faithfully played his lottery and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will truly be missed.
Don leaves to cherish his memory his children; son Donielle Raymone’ Carswell (Shantel) and his step-daughter Niayla Lambert from his life long friend Leatta Asberry; his siblings Donna Jean Carswell, Brenda Newton, Catherine Caudill (Billy), Maria McNeil (Robert) and Harold Newton (Tara). He had a sister Rhonda Carswell and brother Jeff Henry Newton, III who preceded him in death. He also leaves his grandchildren Dionde Kearse, Dynasty Kearse, DaMauri Carswell and D’Sani Carswell; one great granddaughter Maliah McElroy and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
