Betty Jean Smoot

Betty Jean Smoot was born October 23, 1959 in Dayton, Ohio to Johnie B. Coney and Margaret Ann Coney. She was the second daughter and the third of six children. Betty departed this life Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

Betty was a graduate of Dunbar High School and would later marry the love of her life Curtis Lee Smoot and gave birth to three children Kashawana, Kinyarda and Curtis, II.

Betty spent her professional career in food service. She worked at the NCO Clubs on military bases around the world, Good Samaritan Hospital, MCL Cafeteria and General Motors. Betty also had a passion for watching cooking shows, fishing, traveling, crime investigation shows and horror movies and anything scary. Her family was everything to her and she definitely had a way with words, Betty always spoke her mind.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Johnie B. Coney and Margaret Coney and son Curtis L. Smoot, II.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Curtis L. Smoot, Sr., daughters Kashawana (Cassius) Ivy and Kinyarda Jones; grandchildren Cashawn Ivy, Sharyiona Smoot, Cassidy Ivy, Jewel  and Joel Jones; sisters Shelia Gaither and Sonia (Larry) Mosley; brothers David Gaither, James (Monica) Smoot, Tyrone Smoot and John Smoot and a host of other relatives and friends. Last but not least there is her very special friends Toni Norvel, Doris Byrd, Rodessa Hood, Traci Norvell, Sherri Square and Evelyn Suhggs.
