Anna Roberta Tolliver was born April 11, 1913 in Dayton Ohio, to Julius & Loraine Brooks. Anna Roberta departed this life on November 12, 2018.
Anna affectionately known as “Roberta” attended St. Ann’s African American Grade School from 3rd-8th grade. From 9th-11th grade she attended, St. Francis DeSales High School in Rock Castle, Virginia. She later returned to Cincinnati and completed 12th grade at Madonna African American High School, which was located at Court and Mound Street.
In 1922 Roberta married the late Harry Tolliver and had two children, a son Harry Jr. and her late daughter Lois Dean. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, niece, aunt and friend to all. Roberta made gathering with family a priority.
Roberta never met a stranger. She had a gift of bringing laughter to any situation. She had a great sense of humor with a big smile. She was very neighborly and was always willing to lend a helping hand. With her wit and charm, she touched many people and children in the community that she new and loved.
Roberta leaves to cherish her loving memory: her son, Harry Tolliver (Deborah); her grandchildren, Roberta Sims (Clarence), Robert Lee, Desmond Riep, Samuel Lee, Alisa Johnson (Steven), Adam Tolliver, and Andrew Tolliver; her great grandchildren, Katrina Brown, Andrea Sims, Clarence Sims IV, Lashanette Headen-Johnson (Dwight), Angel Lee, Aaron Lee, Ebony Molden, Alexis Riep, Jacob Riep, Tyla Bettis, Michael Tolliver, Steven Johnson, Evan, Johnson and Kellis Johnson; nineteen great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
