Henry Walker, Sr. Obituary

Mr. Henry Lewis Walker, Sr., 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 6:50 a.m. at Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 8, 1940, in the heart of Deatsville, Alabama, he was the cherished firstborn of Elga and Johnsie Walker, and a beloved brother to ten siblings.

Left to treasure his memory are his devoted wife, Beulah Walker of Fairfield, Ohio; children, Janice (Michael) Walker-Scott of Desoto, Texas; Henry (Gloria) Walker, Jr of Hamilton, Ohio; Joyce (James Jr.) Lee of Forest Park, Ohio; Steven (Lori) Walker of Hamilton, Ohio; siblings Dorothy Browder of Clanton, Alabama; Mattie (Coleman) Myers of Toledo, Ohio; Edward (Linda) Walker of Hamilton, Ohio; Ruth (John) Crafton of Clanton, Alabama; Willie (Cathy) Walker of Montgomery, Alabama; Lorenza Walker of Clanton, Alabama; Joseph Walker of Clanton, Alabama; Odessa (Waymond) Walton of Prattville, Alabama; 4 grandchildren, Autumn Walker, Janelle Lee, Alanah Brogan Walker, Jayla Lee; as well as a multitude of relatives and friends.

Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his loving parents Elga and Johnsie Walker Sr; his grandparents, Willie and Mattie Knight; Simon and Sugar Walker; and two brothers, Elga Walker Jr. and Lamar Walker.

Mr. Walker's life was a testament to faith, family, and community. He embraced salvation at the Owen & Lane Street Church of God at the age of 37, and his commitment to his faith was unwavering. He actively served in various capacities, including the Usher Board and the Choir, and was instrumental in the acquisition of Front Street Church of God in 1996. His faith journey later led him to St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, where he found fellowship for twenty-one years before health reasons brought him back to Front Street Church of God alongside his devoted wife.

Beyond his spiritual life, Henry had a passion for cars, gardening, fishing, and sports. He was his children's and grandchildren's biggest cheerleader, always present and enthusiastic at their games and events. His love for road trips with his uncle the late Rev. Dr. John H. Knight Sr., was a testament to his adventurous spirit and zest for life.

Henry's kindness, warmth, and unwavering faith touched the lives of many. He was truly a beacon of light and love, and his memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." (2 Corinthians 5:8 KJV)
