Lois J. Patillo was 95 years and 10 months old when she transitioned into eternal life on Sunday, November 5, 2017 with her sister, Marva Doris Sherman, by her side. She was born January 6, 1922 in Dadeville, Alabama to Wynn Wright and Fannie Lou (Pogue) Patillo. Lois was the oldest of five children. She graduated from Edward Bell High School and Alabama State University where she received her B.S Degree in education. Lois was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school secretary and sang in the choir. When she relocated to Hamilton, Ohio, she united with Pilgrim Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, in addition to working with the youth and special occasion events. She was an Eastern Star in the Middletown Chapter, an AAUW member, Club of Women Teachers member and a member of The League of Women Voters. For 32 years, Lois taught in the public school system in the state of Alabama. After relocating to Hamilton, Ohio, she taught in Hamilton City Public School System and Parochial schools for 12 years. It was always a delight to meet former students and their families.
After retirement, Lois enjoyed taking care of her infant nieces and nephews. She helped to rear her niece Wendy Patillo and nephew John Patillo.
She leaves to mourn her demise one sister Marva Doris Sherman of Hamilton, Ohio; nieces Wendy Patillo of Hamilton, Ohio, Paula W. Rudolph (Elijah) of West Chester, Ohio; Yvonne Sumerlin (Michael) Loretta Jennings, Brenda Jennings, Tammie (Dan) Brantley of Birmingham, Alabama; nephews Gary Sherman of Hamilton, Ohio, Dr. Nathaniel Sherman III (Porsha) of Dublin, Ohio; Michol Creyton Sherman of Ann Arbor, Michigan; Ronnie Jennings (Lisa); John Patillo (Carolyn) of Birmingham, Alabama; and many other relatives and friends throughout the U.S.A.
Preceding her in death were her parents, one sister, Marie A. Jennings (Ivan), two brothers, Ernest C. Patillo (Thelma), and George Paul Edward Patillo; two nieces Paulette DuBose and Donna Patillo; two nephews, Gentre E. Patillo and James A. Patillo.
